One could say that Nancy Sinatra was born into the life she eventually led being born under banners and spotlights, with her famous father being considered as one of the best (if not the best) singers of his time. However, it would be foolish to claim that she is recognized merely for the fact that she is the offspring of a famous man, as it was Nancy’s voice, style, and persona, that eventually made her a legend for nothing else but her own merits. Nancy Sinatra made her debut on television in 1960, performing a duet with her dad on a television special, that welcomed Elvis Presley back home from the war in Vietnam. Her first album was released in 1966, and after that, eight more followed, with her last dated in 2004. The most successful single she ever recorded is the song “These boots are made for walking,”which made go-go boots paired up with a mini skirt the fashion hit of that year, all thanks to Nancy. Other monster hits of Nancy’s include the songs “Sugar Town”, and her version of Cher’s song “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)”. Nancy Sinatra also had a short lived movie career, which lasted between 1964, and 1968, and during which she appeared in eight movies. After that she put the pictures on the sidelines, focusing only on her singing career. Nancy was married twice, and has two daughters. Both of her children are from her second marriage to Hugh Lambert, who died in 1985, while her first marriage with Tommy Sands ended in divorce. Today, the 70 year old Nancy Sinatra is still somewhat present in the music business. She made her return in the nineties with the help of a controversial Playboy photo-shoot which brought her publicity, mostly because she allegedly took the nude photos against her families wishes. Since then, Nancy has recorded a few songs, released a compilation, and made some tv show appearances, among them in the popular series “The Sopranos”. The town of Hollywood also celebrates the “Nancy Sinatra day”on May 11th.
